Old Trafford visit
Alastair (13) watched the match as the special guest of the club's chief executive, Mike Farnan. During his visit, the young man met most of the team, including his favourite players David Beckham and Dwight Yorke. He and his parents, Lindsay and Gwen, were also taken to the players' lounge, courtesy of captain Roy Keane. The invitation to Old Trafford had been made to the family when Alastair was Ireland rugby mascot for a Five Nations Championship match against England earlier in the year.

Visit to number 10
A party of young people, who were staying with host families in Liverpool, met with Prime Minister Tony Blair and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern. the Omagh grouping was met by Secretary of State Mo Mowlam and taken on a guided tour through the corridors of power. The party was shown around the Cabinet Room then ushered into the plush surroundings of the upstairs Green Room where the meeting took place. The Prime Minister laughed and joked with his visitors before teaming up with the Taoiseach for a photocall.
Prince Charles returns
Prince Charles returned to Omagh on the 5th May and met with bereaved families and some of those injured in the Market Street bombing. During the afternoon visit he called at Omagh District Council offices where he was introduced to a number of bereaved families and young people injured in the Omagh bomb. The Prince spent some time chatting to the group who were aware that he had visited Omagh in the immediate aftermath of the bomb.Six pupils from the Omagh County Primary School's Junior Achievement Programme greeted the Prince with their adviser, Justin O'Doherty.
