Brandywell match
French soccer star David Ginola captured the hearts of Londonderry as the city paid its respects to the victims of the Omagh bombing last night.
Around 10,000 people packed into the Brandywell grounds to help Derry City raise £75,000 for the Omagh Fund as the club played a team chosen by Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy. Belfast singing star Brian Kennedy set the tone for the evening with an emotional rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Royal visit
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester praised the courageous work of the emergency services in Omagh, when they visited the town on 27th October. The Royal visitors were welcomed to the Omagh District Council offices by Mr Allan Rainey, vice-chairman of the council, and Mr John McKinney, chief executive. The Duke, who is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth, congratulated the people of Omagh for the way they were approaching the task of regenerating the commercial centre of the town.
Local concert
A host of local stars performed in front of a capacity crowd in the old Royal Arm's ballroom, to raise money for the Omagh Fund. Compere, Pio McCann, described the concert as a night never to be repeated. He said afterwards "It was one of the most touching and emotional nights of my life." All the performers were from the Omagh area and gave their time freely, as did the staff of the Royal Arms Hotel.
